Famous fifties British pinup June Palmer adorns the boot of this classic English sports car. But what brand of sports car was it? At first I thought it was an AC Ace but the tail lights don't look like the ones on pictures of Aces on the web. They do resemble the tail lights of the Aceca coupe. Any ideas?

I don't know. I was distracted by the headlights.
I would guess Austin Healey of some kind. Probably the Sprite.

Yup. See when I was growing up, we didn't have to wonder if they were real or not.

MK1 Austin Healey Sprite. '58-'61

That's it all right. I didn't recognize it because of those paint stripes on the back, which make the rear fender shape look different, but now that I saw your picture and the picture of the back of the 1st-generation Sprite on Wikipedia I see that it certainly is a bugeye Sprite. (Also the original picture was mirrored, as you can tell from the text on the license plate. Note that hers is an LHD model!)

Nope Austin Healey Sprite MK1.

Yeah the tail lights and wheels are what give it away as a MK1.

That's it! The fact that the image was mirrored was messing with me. Good catch!

Thanks. The mirroring was messing with me as well but the tail lights and wheels are what confirmed it for me.
